Instructions
To claim the underlying TAO for tTAO or stTAO, follow the burn instructions below and submit a signed Bittensor destination declaration. Withdrawals are processed manually; payout status is not shown on this website.
The manual withdrawal process requires a valid Bittensor SS58 address. If you do not already have a Bittensor wallet, you may create one using a wallet such as Talisman: https://talisman.xyz/
Once your Bittensor address is ready, please follow the instructions provided in the Manual Withdrawal UI. Manual withdrawal requests will be processed once every two months.
Please note:
- Do not make any new deposits or staking actions.
- Burn transactions are accepted on Ethereum Mainnet only.
- Support during the deprecation period will be limited to withdrawal-related issues.
To bridge stTAO from Base back to Ethereum, use Transporter.

Step 1: Send your tTAO or stTAO to the burn address on Ethereum Mainnet only
To claim the underlying TAO for tTAO or stTAO, send your ERC-20 tokens to the following burn address on Ethereum Mainnet only. Burn transactions on any other chain are not accepted.
If your stTAO is on Base, bridge it to Ethereum first using Transporter.
Step 2: Set the Bittensor SS58 Address you would like to receive
Connect the Ethereum wallet you used to send the tokens, then sign the message containing your Bittensor SS58 address for verification.
Important: Bittensor network only
Make sure this is a Bittensor network address (starts with "5"). Sending to an address on a different Substrate network (Polkadot, Kusama, or any other chain) will result in permanent loss of TAO. Recovery is not possible.
Connect your Ethereum wallet to submit your destination address.
Step 3: Wait for your manual withdrawal
Withdrawals are processed manually approximately once every two months. The underlying TAO will be sent to your declared Bittensor address. The payout will not be reflected on this website; check your Bittensor wallet to confirm receipt.
Fees (post-sunset): 0.2 TAO + 2% withdrawal fee.
